Clinic Staff 100% double vaccinated for Covid-19
Our dedicated staff are now 100% double vaccinated against Covid-19 at East Care. We are so proud to let all our community know that!
We feel very strongly about the importance of protecting not only our own health but that of our whānau. It all contributes to promoting the safety of all our community and everyone who visits our clinic.
Why have we made this effort? Firstly, our team do see a lot of people so it’s important our staff are protected. The nature of Urgent care means we’re always busy looking after lots of people needing unexpected medical or accident care. Secondly, we have been seeing many people who are concerned about respiratory or Covid like symptoms. The first port of call is always getting a free Covid test at our convenient drive-through tent. It’s open from 8 am to 4 pm every day.
The importance of being Fully Vaccinated
Currently, our top priority is helping to get as many people as possible double vaccinated to move towards restrictions safely lifting. It’s really easy to get vaccinated. Book an appointment at a time convenient to you, or simply walk-in at our clinic every day between 9 am to 1 pm.
We’ve been encouraging all our East Tāmaki community to come in and get a vaccination. Subsequently, in order to lead by example, our staff got 100% vaccinated promptly to show we stand by the efficacy of the vaccine. We believe it’s the very best way you can protect yourself from the more severe effects of Covid-19 and also vaccination helps to slow the transmission of the virus.
By getting vaccinated you can help to protect the more at-risk members of your family, like young children under the age of 12, who are not yet able to get the vaccination. It also helps to protect our elderly community members and people with long term medical conditions like diabetes and heart disease. These people may become more severely ill, or require hospital treatment if they are exposed to Covid 19.
Being fully vaccinated, after two doses of vaccine, is the best protection for all of us and will also prevent continuing lockdowns. You can see a full list of vaccination sites on the Book my vaccine site.
Safety of the Covid 19 Vaccination
If you are unsure about having the vaccination, are fearful or feel you need more information about its safety, please call. Our lovely staff have all the information. We are here to listen and give you the information and reassurance you need. We also encourage you to talk to other members of your family or friends, who have already been vaccinated to see why they decided to get the vaccine. More information on the Pfizer vaccine is available on the Ministry Of Health site.
The Pfizer vaccine which is currently being given in NZ is extremely safe and fully tested. It’s been vetted by the makers and drug safety organisations all over the world. Similarly, it’s checked by our own Medicines Regulatory Board, Med Safe. Billions of doses have also now been given worldwide.
Everyone in New Zealand over the age of 12 can now come and get a vaccination. The recommended time between the two doses of vaccinations is three weeks or more. If you are waiting for an appointment that gave you 6 weeks in between doses, do not hesitate to change your booking.
Keep up with Covid 19 testing
As Auckland has moved to Step 1, of Level 3, we are not only just enjoying finally having takeaways, but we are able to have more social contact with families and friends outdoors. This is so good, but as more people return to work and more contact is taking place socially, it’s really important to keep up high testing across Auckland. This way we can be sure that any spread of Covid is picked up as quickly as possible.
Been at a place of interest or come in contact with someone symptomatic, or are experiencing and respiratory symptoms? Then come in for a swab. It is quick, easy and entirely free of charge. Please do not come into the clinic if you have any Covid symptoms. Also, remember to isolate at home until you receive the results. This should take around 24 hours. If unsure, ring Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice on what to do next. They take calls 24 hours a day.
The symptoms can easily be confused for a cold. Please don’t hesitate to arrange a test, we will make it as easy for you as we can.
Also, while we are out and about, remember to keep using the Covid Trace App. Wear a mask, use hand sanitiser and keep up the social distancing. We all know this won’t go on forever, but the more each of us helps out now, the sooner we will get back to a more normal way of life.
From our 100% vaccinated staff,
Stay well, stay safe – Kia noho haumaru.
