Well-regarded and a long term consultant at the East Care Specialist Centre, Dr Hayward, can now be seen in our newly opened Specialist Rooms. Notably, Dr Hayward has 28 years of experience in open, laparoscopic and vaginal surgery. She has been a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Middlemore Hospital since 2001where she leads the urogynaecology team. Lynsey also works in private practice at Auckland Urogynaecology in Parnell and Ormiston Specialist Centre. Lynsey operates regularly at Ormiston Hospital. Lynsey is passionate about women’s health and wellbeing, and specialises in pelvic reconstructive surgery, she has been a President of the International Urogynaecology Association and currently leads its foundation as well as working as part of the International Patient Advisory Board, she is constantly striving to break down the taboos associated with urinary incontinence and prolapse. Leading Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice into the future for New Zealand

Apart from her medical practice, Lynsey also has a passion for teaching, she is the co-director of the NZ  urogynaecology training program, an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) examinations and an international examiner for Ghana. In addition, Lynsey Hayward is committed to furthering research in her field working as part of both national and international research groups. She is a board member of the FIUGA and FIGO and a  past President of the International Urogynaecological Association (IUGA) and a previous Public Relations Chairperson (2010-2015). Lynsey is committed to the promotion of women’s health and is on the IUGA patient advisory council and a member of the website committee. Outside of work, Lynsey is a member of the East Auckland Cockle Bay community, where she lives with her partner Andrew. Lynsey loves anything to do with DIY, gardening and craftwork and has many hobbies, she loves to travel and is a keen skier and cyclist. Lynsey has three adult children two of whom have followed in the medical profession.
